EMDR & IFS Intensives in CT
Looking for something other than weekly therapy?
Weekly therapy isn’t the only option.
Intensives offer a viable alternative to traditional, weekly therapy sessions. With a more retreat like experience, intensives offer an opportunity to really drop in to healing your past - so you can finally live fully in your present.
Maybe you…
…don’t have time for ongoing, weekly therapy at this point in your life but you still feel like you need someone to help you work through your past.
…have tried traditional talk therapy and have gained insight and an understanding of where your symptoms come from, but they’re still there.
…are looking to stay with your current therapist for weekly appointments but are looking to address past trauma that remains unresolved despite years of ongoing weekly therapy.
…find the limited times in traditional therapy sessions interruptive of your experience. You find yourself finally just getting into the depths of things and then the time’s up.
…are looking for a more curated experience that weaves together a blend of modalities that allows for a more free flowing, retreat like experience.
What are EMDR & IFS Intensives?
Intensives are concentrated sessions that involve the use of EMDR, IFS, or both, as well as other modalities to support your healing process (reiki, ceremonial cacao, breathwork). They are a way of doing deep work, quickly. Intensives work well for those with busy schedules who haven’t been able to make the time to commit to weekly therapy, or those who benefit from time away to work through things at a quicker pace. They can also be a great addition to your ongoing work with another therapist, allowing space to specifically target past traumas that are holding you back from living life.
Intensives range from a few hours to a multi-day experience and can provide the equivalent of several months of therapy in a few days. We’ll go over your unique goals for your intensive and create a plan for our time together.
Intensives are a wonderful opportunity to finally address past traumatic experiences, limiting/blocking beliefs, and legacy burdens/ancestral trauma - the roots of your current symptoms.
FAQs
What does a typical intensive look like?
Intensives range from a few hours to a few days. You choose to do regular, ongoing 2hr-3hr sessions, a 4hr intensive, or even a 6hr intensive for 2-3 days. Options will depend on the work you’re looking to do, and this will be explored in your initial, free 30-minute consultation. We’ll start with a 1 hour intake session done via telehealth or in person to set goals and a plan for your intensive. For your intensive itself, we’ll generally start the day off at 9am and end in the early afternoon, depending on the length of your choosing. Your intensive itself will involve arriving to the office and getting settled in for the day, possibly sipping ceremonial cacao and doing some breath work, meditation, journeying, and or reiki to start. If you’d prefer to dive right in with EMDR/IFS, that’s also possible. Then we’ll proceed to doing the deeper therapeutic work with EMDR and/or IFS, taking short breaks as needed and a 1hr lunch break for a full day intensive. We’ll take some time at the end of the session to review progress and discuss next steps.
How much does it cost?
The cost of your intensive will depend on how many hours you choose to do as well as how many days. The cost breakdown is as follows:
60min Intake Session I $150
2hr Intensive (weekday only) I $300
4hr Weekday Intensive I $600
4hr Weekend Intensive I $750
6hr Weekday Intensive I $900
6hr Weekend Intensive I $1100
Multi-day Intensive I $175 per hour
Can I use my insurance?
Intensives are not covered by insurance. If you are a Connecticut resident, your initial 60min intake session may be eligible for reimbursement via out of network benefits, or in-network if I accept your insurance. You can pay for your intensives using your HSA.
Should I do more than one intensive?
This depends on several factors, including the length of intensive you choose, the symptoms you wish to address in your intensive, and the extensiveness of your trauma. Great progress can be made in just one intensive. Intensives are not about “fixing” you, but about helping you do a lot of work in a short amount of time. It may mean that you need to do more than one intensive to release the wounds you carry from the past.
